Tonight's Dinner: June 10, 2012

We are really interested in Wente Vineyards a wedding venue, but don't want to book the first place we toured.  Just for kicks, we went back out to dine at their restaurant with Nick's family to sample their food since their restaurant is very similar to their catering.  It was delicious, but we were a little disappointed with how slow the service was.  We showed up 30 minutes early so that we could show the Fongs the wedding ceremony area.  That took all of five minutes so we headed to the restaurant to see if they could seat us early.  For a Sunday night, they were pretty busy.  Not only were they not able to seat us, but they were 15 minutes late with our 7:30pm reservation.  Although we had some nice champagne and wine at their bar, we were getting hungry and antsy.

The food did make up for it as well as the waitress.  She was very pleasant and helpful, albeit, slow.  Nick thinks that because it was a Sunday night they were under staffed.  She had misunderstood me when I asked for a bottle of Tempranillo (which is quickly becoming one of my summer evening favorites) and gave us two glasses instead.  She comped the glasses and brought us out a bottle.  Needless to say, we had A LOT of wine.

Mr. Fong's smoked pork chop.  This was my favorite to try.  The pork chop
had an awesome smokey flavor like bacon without being fat strips.

Wente is a gorgeous wedding venue! so is Poppy Ridge, if you want a winery with the option of outdoor ceremony. My friend was married there last summer and the food was super tasty, too!
