Holy Crab! Ha. Ha. Did you see what I did there? Mr. Fong had ordered a 6lb crab for dinner and we weren't going to pass that up. Since he is off of work for the rest of the year, Mr. and Mrs. Fong had dim sum at
Siagon Seafood Restaurant in El Cerrito and ordered a crab for us right on the spot. Originally, they wanted to have dinner on Friday, but none of us could make it. Apparently, the restaurant owner also owns the wholesale seafood market and was able to get the live Alaskan King Crab to Siagon Seafood before the Fongs even finished their dim sum. What service!
We certainly enjoyed the crab and definitely acted like tourists when we saw it. I've long gotten past the embarrassment of taking pictures of the food I eat. I just ignore the strange looks I get when I stand up to take a picture of a dish or scramble to the fish tanks with my phone outstreched. By the time Nick and I got to the restaurant, the crab was in a bucket because it was trying to escape the ice tray and had fallen to the floor.

I've posted many pictures of the geoduck that we eat, but never of them before we eat it. This has to be the ugliest thing I've ever eaten. But they sure taste good. |

Can you believe that this was the smaller of the two crabs that the restaurant was selling? |

At the end of the night we were checking out this GIANT Australian lobster. You can see how huge it is by the size of that regular Boston lobster behind it. It's odd that this breed of lobster doesn't have large front claws like the ones that we are used to seeing. When the man picked it back up to put in the tank it spread all of it's legs like a giant red spider. I was too slow with my camera to get a picture of that. I could see the gleam in Mr. Fong's eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the next thing he orders. |
